The Magenta Dracaena was first collected and described by French botanist André Michaux in 178 The specific epithet marginata refers to the fact that the flowers are edged with purple lines. The Magenta Dracaena grows to a height of 2 meters and has glossy green leaves arranged in a rosette around the stem. The flowers are magenta, with a white throat and yellow anthers.
