Welcome to another edition of Garden Lore. In this column, well be taking a look at some of the more interesting plants in our garden and explaining what they are and how to care for them. Todays plant is the high quality designerle red pepperomia.Designerle peppers are a newer variety of pepper that was developed in the 1990s by crossing two types of bell peppers – the Poblano and the Anaheim – to create a more colorful and elongated pepper. The end result is a vibrant red, orange, yellow or green pepper with a thick skin and juicy flesh. They are perfect for adding color and flavor to any dish, and can be used fresh or cooked.To grow designerle peppers, start with bell peppers that are plump but not too large – 2-3 inches in diameter is ideal. Once you have your Bell peppers, remove the seeds and stem (keeping as much of the green leaves as possible) before planting them into soil that has been moistened but not drenched. Designerle peppers do best in climates that range from warm summers to cool winters, so make sure to plant them in an area that receives at least 8 hours of sunlight per day. Water regularly during
